Shocking Confession of a Madonna University Student.

Following the recent action taken by NUC to sanitize Nigerian Private Universities, mixed reactions have been trailing the suspension of the operational licenses of the affected private universities especially from Nigeria Students. Recently a student of a prominent university which was affected by NUC’s sledgehammer reveled what could be a neglected issue which has been lingering for years. The student who claimed anonymous made this shocking confession about the school:

“I am a Madonna University student and am very happy that NUC took this bold step to suspend the university. I study electrical/ electronic engineering and in 300 Level. My campus is in located in Enugu state. In Madonna University a carryover program was introduced where student are to pay one hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N150,000) which is higher than our 2nd semester school fees and almost equal to 1st semester. Unqualified lecturers are made H.O.D, Dean of Student Affairs, secretary etc. A person who washes toilet in Madonna University is the head of EXAMS and RECORD. We go to church 8 times a week in Madonna. In a particular department where you might have up to 80 students, only one third or less of those students graduate while others are not given certificates. Madonna on purpose fails students so that they will re-seat the course and pay the carryover fee and lie to N.U.C of the total no of students it admits in a department. No department in the faculty of Engineering is accredited and the university is allowed to run and extort money from students just because their parents are rich. If you use a Blackberry phone in Madonna, you are suspended for 2 years and any other phone 1 year. We are suffering in Madonna every single day of our stay in the university. We are 12 people in a room but the management lied to N.U.C about this. The medicine department in Madonna forces students to work for 2 years or they are to pay two million Naira (N2.000.000). They extort money from students, if you stay outside the school, they expel you from school. The Security men in Madonna slap, beat, stabs and can do anything to a student but if you try to fight back in self defense you will be expelled. I want MADONNA to be closed and the students to be taken to other Universities. We’ve had enough of this.”

Though the facts of this confession cannot be ascertained, one cannot but ponder why a Nigerian student would make such a confession about a university he attends. “I know you won’t want to believe me but I SWEAR BY MY LATE BROTHERS LIFE that I tell the truth.” He said.  The student also stated that he want the Government to take over Madonna University owing to allegations that the owner of Madonna and the management staff are thieves, and fraudsters. He thereby urged the Nigerian press crew to visit Madonna because students are waiting to talk to them.
