PRESCO: A sudden fire caused by an electrical malfunction in the student affairs office presco campus of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki on Monday morning caused tension and panic in the university premises.
The incident occurred at around 11.30 am. Sources said that the office personnel with the aid of security officers used fire extinguishers to douse the fire.
Commenting on the incident, Ben a 400 Level student of the department of Anatomy said that the building was more than a century old. "The electrical malfunction was quite unexpected. Am happy that the office personnel reacted in time to avert any damage to vital documents in the office”
No injuries were reported as it was a minor fire accident due to electrical short circuit, but damages to property could not be ascertained. The office has temporarily relocated to a much safer building.
